(Blog “about” pages–things you probably don’t need to know, but I will tell you anyway).

Who am I?  I’m a Montana gal. Yes, I know how to ride a horse. No, I don’t really know how to fence or move cattle. I do love being outside…hiking & backpacking in the mountains, rollerblading, road biking, reading books by lakes, taking pictures, writing stories, & going on random adventures (which mostly include getting very lost). I am also a registered nurse (RN). More about that, later…

Why the name, Sarah’s Sunbeam? (That sounds like the title to a children’s book!) Well, now that you mention it…that is the title to a (very unpublished) children’s book that I am working on. My fabulous significant other (Ryan–who will also be contributing to this blog & helping edit some of my posts) accuses me of being a cat. I do like to find a sunny spot to nest. I am also cold 90% of the time & prefer sunlight. Also, there is some incredibly depressing writing out there. I do not intend for this blog to be incredibly depressing (or even slightly depressing). But that doesn’t mean I won’t write about serious shit sometimes.

Why a blog? (There are, like, five ka-billion blogs that already exist). As Mindy Kaling says…’ “Why the fuck not me?” should be your motto.’ (And yes, glad you asked. This blog is not for children or people who are easily offended by profanity). And because I love to write. So, I want to write about the things I love. Just that.

What this blog IS:

Three (now four!) basic categories (for now), including…

  1. Fragments. These are poems, stories, etc. My own writing. Fiction, non-fiction, and a combination of both.
  2. Nurse. Being an RN. And other nurse related things. Creative non-fiction. “Creative” because names & events will be altered to protect patient privacy (and my license).
  3. Reviews. I love reading. I’ve spent countless hours reviewing books on random sites. I have off & on made “book lists” so this is a perfect place for both my “lists” and reviews.
  4. Adventures. Because. Adventures are great.

#5 (new) is a portfolio (photographs!)

That’s a start…

Happy reading!

P.S. All photographs are taken by me (unless otherwise specified & credited).

Hi, Sarah! I came across your article in Misadventures Mag and I think we went to HS together! Are you from Bozeman?! If not, hello anyway! 🙂
